Will any food and beverage company be eating up Mondelez?

By Lauren Kline, Vice President, FactSet Product Strategist
Nov 12, 2015

Last quarter, Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Capital took a stake in Mondelez (MDLZ-US) as Ackman reportedly saw Kraft Heinz (KHC-US) as a potential buyer for MDLZ.

Mondelez manufactures snack food and beverage products. The company currently has 353 entities and includes brands such as Oreo cookies, Cadbury, and Trident Gum.

Using FactSet's entity data management, we can expose a taxonomy of linkages and hierarchies between entities, securities, people, and funds to analyze the related companies that would be impacted by a potential deal. Here we see that Mondelez has 39 suppliers and 11 customers.

There are 2,542 companies in the FactSet Revere Food, Beverage and Agriculture sub-sector. Thirty-one of these companies have a market value over $20 Billion, including potential buyer Kraft Heinz.
