Once again, FactSet has been recognized by Forbes as one of the "best publicly traded firms with sales under $1 billion," based on sales and earnings growth.
In its November 8, 2010 issue, Forbes writes, "Taking the prize for longest tenure on our list is No. 40 FactSet Research Systems. The financial information provider has appeared for 14 straight years. Better still, of all 100 companies on our list, FactSet added the most heads during the recession: It doubled in size over the past two fiscal years by adding 2,182 employees, mainly overseas."
To qualify for consideration, candidates must have annual revenue between $5 million and $1 billion, be publicly traded for at least a year, and have a stock price no lower than $5 per share. Rankings are based on earnings growth, sales growth, and return on equity in the past 12 months and over five years. Forbes also compared a company's stock performance with that of its industry peers. Shares of last year's list members outpaced the Russell 2000 small-company index by an average of 3 percentage points.
