In this month’s edition of FactSet Flashwire, our monthly publication focusing on deal trends, we spotlight the risks of inflation and the potential impact on M&A.

If inflationary concerns come to fruition, what can we expect from the market?  Inflation and commodity M&A value over the last 14 years.

In terms of valuation, buyers would likely seek risk free investments yielding higher interest. For M&A activity to compete, lower valuations would be needed in order to compete. Creating a more complex deal environment becomes an issue as buyers have strengthened balance sheets and are sitting on large cash war chests, but may have to sit idle from the deal table as despite have the cash for acquisition, the price may be too high.

FactSet Flashwire brings you a round-up of the past month’s top M&A and private equity deal trends. All of the data used to compile the report is available in FactSet.
