Will a company in your portfolio or watch list be entering bankruptcy soon? FactSet now provides a way to monitor a company's financial health over time, and survey if the company is likely to enter bankruptcy.

The new Credit Solver report within FactSet's Fixed Income Explorer gives you a look at the financial health of a company over time, as calculated by the Altman Z-score. (To see a full definition of how the Altman Z-score is calculated, visit Online Assistant page 3920).

If you'd like to input your own proprietary figures for the company's financials, i.e., Net Sales, you may input your own values and the Z-score graph will adjust to show the difference between the company-reported data and your inputs.

Learn how!

  1. Navigate to the report by clicking the FactSet Insert Menu > Company > Debt > Fixed Income Explorer
  2. Select Credit Solver in the left pane
  3. Choose an Identifier by clicking the magnifying glass and searching for the company of your choice
  4. Alter any financial ratios or financial inputs by clicking directly on the number you want to change and inputting the new value
