Quick Portfolio can be a helpful tool when you want analyze a list of companies that are not already stored as a portfolio in your accounting system, or for on-the-fly analysis.

While Quick Portfolio is a tried and true FactSet utility, one recent update makes it even better to use it often.

The new feature lets you choose a default Country, Valuation Weighting, and Price Weight setting each time you index a new portfolio through Quick Portfolio. This feature saves you time when saving multiple portfolios through Quick Portfolio.

Do it in FactSet

  1. Click the FactSet Insert Menu > Utilities > Quick Portfolio
  2. Enter your stock information by hand, or copy directly from Excel and assign column names
  3. Click the Modify Settings hyperlink and choose the Index tab
  4. Choose your desired default settings, including the Valuation Weighting method, Price Weighting method, and Country
  5. Check the box to "Use current index settings as default" - these are now the settings Quick Portfolio will always use when you save a portfolio

If you're not familiar with using Quick Portfolio, you can view a full demo of its features on Online Assistant page 14904.
