Quick Portfolio can be a helpful tool when you want analyze a list of companies that are not already stored as a portfolio in your accounting system, or for on-the-fly analysis.
While Quick Portfolio is a tried and true FactSet utility, one recent update makes it even better to use it often.

The new feature lets you choose a default Country, Valuation Weighting, and Price Weight setting each time you index a new portfolio through Quick Portfolio. This feature saves you time when saving multiple portfolios through Quick Portfolio.
Do it in FactSet
- Click the FactSet Insert Menu > Utilities > Quick Portfolio
- Enter your stock information by hand, or copy directly from Excel and assign column names
- Click the Modify Settings hyperlink and choose the Index tab
- Choose your desired default settings, including the Valuation Weighting method, Price Weighting method, and Country
- Check the box to "Use current index settings as default" - these are now the settings Quick Portfolio will always use when you save a portfolio
