FactSet named one of Human Resource Executive's Great Companies for Millennials
Thursday, April 24, 2008
FactSet was named this month as one of Human Resource Executive's Great Companies for Millennials. The 18 companies chosen were given exceptionally high marks by workers 25 and under in the 2007 Great Place to Work Institute survey.
FactSet was recognized by the magazine for several workplace incentives desired by millenials, including outgoing social networks, personal attention to new hires, and expansive in-house career opportunities.
FactSet creates Facebook groups to allow new hires to communicate about everything from housing to work expectations before they arrive for their first day. Also, before starting on the job, students who have accepted jobs at FactSet, but haven't left school, will often be sent gift baskets and a note that says, "Good luck, we're thinking of you, we look forward to seeing you soon."
For employees on the job, FactSet holds career fairs, to let them know what’s available.
“We don’t want anybody to walk out the door because they’re looking for a career opportunity that they did not think was here,” says Director of Human Resources Dan Viens.
FactSet added hundreds of new employees in fiscal year 2007 while maintaining a U.S. employee retention rate of around 90%. During 2007, domestic employee count grew by more than 30%. Most FactSet new hires are Engineers and Consultants, which FactSet prefers to hire directly from college. This method supports a continuous influx of new ideas and the latest technology.
